The Triptych
In my triptych, I seek to capture the essence of Joseph Albers’ vision through a series of montages. Inspired by Albers’ quote— “For me, abstraction is real, probably more real than nature. I’ll go further and say that abstraction is nearer my heart. I prefer to see with closed eyes.” —my triptych invites viewers to see with their hearts, embracing a world beyond visual confines. Through photo editing techniques, I portrayed the act of closing one’s eyes, and the subsequent blurring and abstraction of the world. Rather than perceiving this shift into abstraction as a departure from beauty, we should embrace it as an entryway to a deeper level of appreciation.

Book Project
My work explores the erosion of life in contemporary times, driven by the growing void felt by individuals toward reality and their turn into the imaginary realms of fictional narratives under popular culture for solace. Using carving and paper folding techniques, I transform a book titled “The Purpose of Life” into a metaphor that highlights the erosion of personal and social substance underneath the dazzling delusions of imaginary landscapes. I intend to provoke contemplation on the importance of balance and the boundary between reality and the solace found in the imagination.
